In this video we will see How to make Capsicum Rice in Tamil with(English Subtitle). It is a perfect lunch box recipe for those working women to try out for themselves and their kids in the mornings. Flavourful and delicious, it’s one of those dishes that kids wouldn’t mind having for lunch. Hence, it is a perfect dish to keep your kids healthy and fulfilled at the same time.

Capsicum Rice

Oil - 2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Chopped Capsicum - 1 cup
Basmati rice - 1 cup (250 ml)

For Masala Powder
Peanuts - 1 tsp
Chana Dal - 1 tbsp
Urad Dal - 1 tbsp
Coriander seeds (Dhaniya) - 1tsp
Red Chili - 4no
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Capsicum Rice
Cook the basmati rice.
1. Take a wide saucepan and add some oil to it.
2. Add some peanuts, cumin, sesame, chana dal and urad dal. Roast them well.
3. After two minutes, add the coriander seeds, and roast them.
4. Now, add the red chillies and cumin seeds.
5. Once the ingredients start turning golden-brown in color
6. Finally, add the turmeric powder. Mix all the ingredients well.
7. Season the ingredients with some salt.
8. Turn off the stove and cool the mixture.
9. Once the mixture is completely cool, grind it in a mixture into a fine powder.
10. Take a wide saucepan and add some oil.
11. Add the mustard seeds.
12. Once the mustard seeds and carry leaves start splatter, add the chopped capsicum and mix well.
13. Season it with some salt.
14. Once the capsicum is cooked and becomes tender, add the ground masala powder.
15. Add the basmati rice to the pan and gently start mixing, until the masala is properly blended in the rice.
16. Check for seasoning.
17. Season it with some salt and a Tsp of ghee.
Tips:You can add more masala powder if you want to, after adding the rice, depending on your taste.
